workshop

If you're interested in signing your student(s) (10-14) up for the Creative Writing Workshop presented by The Next Chapter Bookstore and led by Nicodemus, read on to learn more about the workshop and how to sign up.

About the Creative Writing Workshop

Week I: Students will focus on character development and world building. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to create authentic characters with real world human emotions, and settings that aid the hero in their journey.

Week II: Students will learn about the four-part short story writing technique. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to outline a short story and understand how a narrative develops to build tension.

Week III: Students will write the first draft of their short stories and have at least one peer read it and provide feedback. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to build a prose short story based on their outline, as well as provide feedback for, and learn from, fellow writers.

Week IV: Students will present their completed story to the class. Provided that all the necessary materials were provided at least three days before the final session, students will be given a copy of their short story in book format. By the end of this lesson, students will better understand how to publish their work once they've written it.
